Nerd Friday Deux / Sayonara Suckers
It may be a month until I write again. I haven’t abandoned the blog, but I’ll be travelling and will hopefully only interact with computers to a1) get money or b2) get tickets or c3) utilize a medieval weapon in a property-destroying rampage.
So, in the spirit of feeling stressed out and not having enough time [...]

Nerd Friday
Since I’ve been a proper self-absorbed norteAmericano this week, basically working long hours and then prepping for the trip abroad, I haven’t posted anything.
While my self-indulgent lifestyle will continue for the next month, that’s no excuse for not posting _some_thing.

Is New Urbanism Just Cultural Imperialism in Disguise?
I just read a fascinating article about the Katrina rebuilding efforts in the NY Times, “Battle for Biloxi“, by Jim Lewis.
As a subscriber to Dwell mag and former resident of Portland, OR, I’m well aware of the appeal of New Urbanism, but, given the environments where New Urbanism is given room to flourish (e.g., the [...]

I Heart the Detroit Pistons
How do the Pistons rule so much? I can tell you how they rule so much:
Look in the dictionary under “motley crue”. There may be a picture of pirates, or perhaps of Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee and the gang, but there should be a picture as you see here, of ‘Sheed, Chauncey, Rip, Big [...]
